Youth Programs offers a variety of programs services, and activities to the youth population of the Los Angeles AFB community. Youth Programs affiliates with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) and 4-H to offer the following programs: School Age Program, Youth Sports and Fitness, Open Recreation and Teen Programs.

PhotoThe School Age Program is certified by the Department of Defense and is accredited by the National Afterschool Association (NAA). It provides before and after school care and summer camp programming to 5-year-olds in kindergarten to 12-year-olds. Fees for care are based on total family income and guidance from the Department of Defense. There is currently no waiting list for care in the School Age Program. Inbound families may place their children on the waiting list by faxing a completed DD2606 and a copy of the sponsor's orders to the program at DSN 633-8384 or commercial 310-653-8384 prior to arrival.

PhotoThe Youth Sports and Fitness Program operates in accordance with the National Alliance for Youth Sports. Priding itself in making sports and fitness fun and in getting along with others, the program encourages participation and de-emphasizes competition. Volunteer coaches play an active role in the following league sports seasons: Basketball, Drill Team, Flag Football, and Volleyball. Membership and nonmembership fees are collected for participation in league sports. Currently, the Air Force Fit Factor Youth Fitness Program is being offered to 9 to 18-year-olds with weekly and monthly programs being offered to encourage youth in reaching their fitness goals.

Open Recreation for 9 to 12-year-olds and Teen Programs for 13 - 18-year-olds offers many BGCA and 4-H Programs. An annual membership fee of $25 is required to participate in both programs and entitles the member to use of the facility for self-directed recreation and discounted attendance of field trips, dances, other scheduled events. Youth and teens are strongly encouraged to join in on the opportunity to lead their peers by joining either the Torch Club or Keystone Club.
